8 differences between a traditional wedding ceremony venue and our elopement + accommodation eco-estate

Most traditional weddings in Australia follow a pretty standard run of show: Ceremony in one place (often a church), reception in another, then everyone heads home or, if you’re from out of town, back to a hotel where the couple has reserved a block of rooms.

Don’t get us wrong — this formula has produced countless beautiful ceremonies (we’ve certainly shed some tears) plus some excellent parties. But these days, brides and grooms are bucking traditions of all sorts, and instead making their big-day decisions based on what suits them and their unique style. And we’re here for it! At Mountain Path Meadows, we offer a customisable experience for elopements and micro-weddings in South Australia’s naturally stunning Limestone Coast.

For brides, grooms and all couples in the planning stages of their wedding day, here’s a quick list of all the features that make our venue a bit different from the traditional wedding ceremony venues you might be used to.

  1. Flexible ceremony time. When you purchase our Wedding Weekend package, you can have your wedding anytime from checkin to checkout. This is a great option for anyone worried about inclement weather, allowing you to simply move your wedding ceremony to a time when the weather is cooperating.

  2. You can spend the night here. After your intimate elopement ceremony, you can continue the fun because here at Mountain Path Meadows, we also provide our couples with accommodations in the form of our geodesic glamping domes. Connect with nature as you connect with each other on your Wedding Weekend.

  3. Our venue and accommodations are fully off-grid. Have all the fun and none of the guilt by choosing a venue that’s kind to the environment. We prioritise eco-friendly practices around our property.

  4. Our accommodations are as unique as they come. They’re geodesic domes. WTF are geodesic domes, you ask? We’ve written a blog post answering that exact question. They’re environmentally-friendly, material-efficient, and incredibly sturdy.

  5. We’re located at the base of a dormant volcano. Talk about unique! Mount Schank is the second-youngest volcano on the continent of Australia, with nearby Mount Gambier being the youngest.

  6. Heaps of photo backdrops that would make any photographer drool. Whether it’s our 3-meter tall hand built ceremony arbor, our geometric geodesic dome accommodations, the naturally beautiful backdrop of Mount Schank, or the nearby coastline of Port MacDonnell (including the southernmost point in South Australia), there are countless places to capture stunning memories that you’ll want to keep forever.

  7. You can have a genuinely chill wedding. No last minute set-up, no stressful getting ready, no worry about guests. Just a beautiful, intimate ceremony with the person or people you want there with you.

  8. It’s true, we don’t do receptions here. It’s all about respecting this beautiful land, treating it gently and ensuring it remains just as gorgeous for future couples to celebrate their nuptials. We are happy to provide you with recommendations for local reception venues nearby that may suit your style and budget. Go have a great time at your reception, then come back and enjoy your gorgeous glamping accommodations.
