Mount Gambier, in addition to being South Australia’s second largest city, was also one of the most moved-to places in Australia in 2022, experiencing an 85% increase in migration from March 2021 to March 2022, according to a recent Commbank study. We recently opened the Wulanda Recreation and Convention Centre, offering beautiful workout facilities as well as indoor and outdoor pools, including a splash pad for the kids. If you’re with the family and need a rainy day activity, visiting Wulanda is the perfect way to still have your holiday fun even if the weather doesn’t cooperate.

2. There’s more to eat: With new offerings like Little Rippa Brewing Co, Nacho Average Taco Truck and Elementary by Soulco opening recently, and new entrants like Sushi Train poised to join the restaurant scene soon, you should have plenty to tantalise your taste buds during your visit to the Mount Gambier region.

3. There’s more to see: Our region boasts countless sinkholes and volcanic craters — remnants of massive geologic activity from long ago. While none of these are new this year (in fact, they’re very, very old!), it’s always a good time to experience the other-worldly beauty that reminds us just how small we are in the scheme of our vast and stunning planet. Plus, just 5 minutes drive from Mountain Path Meadows, you can swim in a sinkhole. How cool is that?!

A Clare Valley-based winery, Taylors Estate and their 2020 Shiraz, won the title of International Champion 2022 at the annual VINUS International Wine & Spirits Competition in Argentina back in September. Maybe you’re more of a Cabernet person? The Coonawarra wine region has you covered with its famous terra rossa producing some of the best Cabernets in the world.
